Christmas Anticipation

I look forward to Christmas every year. Not so much the commercial aspect, though I do enjoy my fair share of movies and gifts, but there is so much more to look forward to! Every year I look forward to spending time with my family- decorating the house and the silly pranks and jokes that go around. And then of course there is the snow and the food... who doesn't appreciate those?

This year is a little different for me. Why? Well, I married my very best friend in October this year, when our wedding was moved up from June next year. This has been the first time we have been able to spend the holidays together. We spent Thanksgiving with his family, and are spending Christmas with my family. This time around, Christmas holds a lot more for us! We each have a new set of family- parents, aunts, uncles, even siblings. Also, our very own little one is expected very soon! Her official due date is the 27th (six more days!), but according to the doctor this afternoon she will probably not be waiting that long.

With amazing gifts like this- our new family- what else could we possibly wish for?

Giving new things a try

With all the changes going on in my life right now, I decided to start giving a few things a try. For one, I have started in my attempts to weave. Currently this has not made much progress, but once things from the holidays slow down, I suspect it will pick up! I also got back into my bead work. I didn't realize how much I missed making my own jewelry- though, the dangle earrings are on indefinite hold right now, unless I decide to sell some. I have also decided to try bobbin lace, also known as pillow lace. This one is farthest from actually being worked on, since I don't quite have all the supplies yet. I decided to try this after seeing a demonstration, actually many years ago. I thought the lace was so pretty and delicate, and couldn't imagine trying something so complicated on my own! I still don't have a teacher for this, but with so many resources on the internet now, I no longer see the need to wait for one.

So, with trying lots of new things, I decided I might as well give blogging a try again. I am hoping that I can stay relatively on track with this, hopefully with a post every week at the least. Also, I'm hoping I can keep this mostly fiber related- knitting and weaving and so on, but I am sure that there will probably be posts about bead work and sewing, and most likely about the wee one (once she decides to show up).
